Service Areas: Strategic Planning, Graphic Design
Time Frame: February 2022-March 2023
Deliverable: Strategic Planning process, delivered in hybrid format

Description: Three Notch’d Nonprofit Solutions was hired by Early Music America to lead its board and staff through the first-ever formal strategic planning process. The process began with stakeholder engagement, including online surveys administered to staff, board, and current and lapsed members; and in-depth interviews. A Strategic Planning Committee (SPC), comprised of board, staff, committee, and task force members, met virtually and in-person to carry out the important work of outlining strategic priorities. EMA’s 2023–2028 Strategic Plan prioritizes goals and objectives that reinforce the organization’s mission, vision and values, and outlines key activities, milestones, and required resources. In addition to designing and facilitating the planning process, Three Notch’d Nonprofit Solutions completed the graphic design of the final report.
Early Music America (EMA) is a North American community of people who find joy, meaning, and purpose in studying and experiencing historically informed performance. Since 1985, EMA has enriched the field of early music in North America by developing and supporting interest in the music of the past, so that it informs and shapes our lives today. The breadth of EMA’s membership–which spans professional performers, students, professors and educators, ensembles, presenters, instrument makers, amateur musicians, philanthropists, and many more–has positioned EMA to be an important advocate, convener, and promoter of early music throughout North America.
